High-performance sports coaching

A few years ago I watched 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤: 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡’𝐬 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 on Netflix and if you manage teams, own a business and/or love sports, the show is a must.

Curious? Below is a summary of episode 1 with Doc Rivers, Head Coach of the Philadelphia 76ers👇🏻

1. Finish the race

—> Whatever you pick, finish the race and make sure you’re working towards your biggest goals, not what’s “realistic”

2. Don’t be a victim

—> You’ll get some things wrong and you may even experience injustice along the way but you’ve got to keep going

3. Ubuntu is a way of life

—> Always remember that a person is a person through other human beings. Work towards your goals, stay out of trouble, don’t quit, and remember the people around you

4. Pressure is a privilege

—> Don’t run from destiny, pressure or expectations. Embrace it

5. Champions keep moving forward

—> To be a good coach/leader, you’ve got to believe in your people so much that they start to believe they can achieve the unthinkable

“I’m not going to coach you to who you are. I am going to coach you to who you’re going to be someday”.
